Hey Everyone, just thought I’d shoot out a post to showcase some gold coins I recently picked up. Coin collecting is a great hobby with decent long term investing potential too. Certain coins are known to hold value over the long term. But coins made of gold and silver also have value due to their precious metal content.
I’ve been on the hunt for some Pre World War 1 gold coins from all the combatants for my collection. So far, I’ve collected a 1914 $5 Canadian Gold coin, a 1915 $5 American Indian Head, a 1910 20 Franc Rooster, and a 1915 Austrian Ducat.
You can pick these coins up at your local coin shop and even through Precious Metals Dealers like Silver Gold Bull.
Today I’m showcasing a nice example of a Prussian 1908 20 Mark gold coin. The coin contains 0.2304 Troy OZ of gold.
The Front features the crowned imperial eagle of Germany.
The back features the image of the infamous German Emperor Kaiser Wilhelm II.
The cool thing about the Kaiser coin is that not many German gold coins survived the two world wars, the Hyperinflation and Depression. So it’s unique and definitely a keeper!
The second coin pickup is also interesting from a historical viewpoint. The coin is a tenth ounce of pure 0.9999 fine gold from the Royal Canadian Mint that features the arrowhead emblem of the Devil’s Brigade. These coins were minted in 2015 and are popular among collectors and gold bullion investors.
Both coins are great additions and relatively affordable. The German 20 Mark set me back about $700 and the other one was about $300.
Gold has been hitting all-time highs in many currencies like the CAD, Pound, Yen and Euro. Some analysts are forecasting a record in USD this year too.
I think given the massive economic uncertainty facing us, everyone should own a little gold in their portfolios.
Thanks for reading this post on my latest gold coin pickups.
